Dreary Day at the Library Today is a rainy, cold day at the Library. Usually on days like this we are busy, but people seem to loose interest in the library around this time of year. I guess it makes sense. People are caught up in the whirlwind marketing extravaganza that is the holiday season. With such emphasis put on purchasing little trinkets of happiness for each other, the idea of checking out materials for free seems off. Don't get me wrong, between black friday and the first of the year I am a shopping force to be reckonded with. I absolutely LOVE to buy presents for people. To me this is a chance to show people how much you care.So here is the deep philosophical question I pose to you all: Can happiness be bought? And if so, what is the point of having a public library where everything is free?

To answer your two questions-No, love cannot be bought. It can only be given. Not even
earned-respect can be earned, fear can be earned. There are a lot of evil, mean people out
there who do not deserve love, but someone loves them. Love - Given and accept-thats all
and thats all it should be.

Secondly, Happiness cannot be bought either. Comfort and ease in life can be bought, but
as the saying goes-"Happiness is an inside job".
Only you can make yourself happy or not. We all know of people who have everything and
are unhappy and people who have nothing but are joyful. It is not the "thing" that makes
the difference, it is the differnece in the "people".

It is not what happens, it is how you allow it to affect you. Keep hope, keep humor, keep
smiling. Life really is beautiful.

Didn't mean for this to be so long.
